Robin Gail Sloop, age 48, of Moccasin Creek Rd., Murphy, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at her home after a brief illness. Robin was born in Concord, NC on July 6, 1963. She was a loving daughter, good mother and wonderful friend to all who knew her. Robin was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving Robin are her parents, Horace and Barbara Wilhite of Murphy, NC, son, Michael Rhodes Caison and wife Dianna of Holden Beach, NC, son William Ray Sloop of Murphy, NC, brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Audrey Wilhite of Murphy, NC, sister, Shannon Lindsay of Murphy, NC, one granddaughter, Candice Caison. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James P. Gray officiating. Bellview Fire Department will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Bellview Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Burnell Aaron, age 90, of Chatham Dr. Blairsville, went to be with the Lord Friday, October 14, 2011 at his home following a brief illness. He was born October 13, 1921 in Liberty, MS. He moved to Blairsville 7 years ago from Lawrenceville, GA where he lived for 43 years. Burnell was a WWII U S Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents who he never knew, his uncle and aunt who raised him in Mississippi who he called Mom and Pops, he was also the brother-in-law of the late Arthur and Margie Jones. Burnell was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving Burnell are: his wife Annie “Louise” Aaron of Blairsville, several nieces and nephews and all the people who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2011at Lebanon Baptist Church in Lawrenceville with Pastor Tommy Thomas officiating. Music will be by The Son’s Light Singers and Grace Mayes. Interment will follow in Haynes Creek Cemetery in Loganville. Mr. Rex Carlton Ballew, age 75, of Gainesville Hwy, Blairsville passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011 in Heritage Health Care in Blue Ridge. Rex was born January 6, 1936 in Union County a son of the late James Coleman Ballew and Winnie Juanita Duckworth Ballew. He graduated from Union County High School, was a Korean War Veteran and served in the U S Marine Corps and Navy. Rex received his law enforcement certification in 1978 at the University of Georgia-North East GA Police Academy and qualified 3rd in his class. He spent most of his life in Law Enforcement and served as Chief Deputy to the late Harlan Duncan, also a few years as deputy in White County. Rex was a member of Young Cane Masonic Lodge # 597 F&AM. He was preceded in death by a brother Bill Ballew. He was of the Catholic Faith. Surviving Rex are four children, Eleana and Paul Walters of Lake Els, CA, Dan Ballew of CA, Bill Ballew of Pinetop, AZ, Nick Ballew of Yucca Valley, CA, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, special friend, Jozene King of Blairsville, GA. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home with Rev. Benny Nix and Rev. Jimmy Tanner officiating. Music will be by the Kelley Trio. Pallbearers will be Bob Reece, Kevin Green, Gerald Brown, Ray Myers, Gene Spivia and Ulric Spivia. Interment will follow in Choestoe Baptist Cemetery. Mr. Raymond Samuel Thigpen, age 64, of Nelson Lane, Hiawassee, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Union General Hospital. He was born January 22, 1947 in Louisville, GA to the late Samuel Andrew and Myrtus Virginia Landrum Thigpen. Raymond moved here 13 ˝ years ago from Tampa, FL. He played the piano at age 12 and was a song writer, and loved music of all kinds. He also had a recording studio in his home and made CD’s and had many internet friends. Raymond retired after ten years with Georgia Dept. of Transportation, District 1 in Gainesville, GA. He was a member of Ministries of Grace Church. Surviving Raymond are: his wife, Paule Thigpen of Hiawassee, GA, sister and brother-in-law, Ollie and Edward Guillebeau of Harlam, GA, nephews, Dewayne Reeves and Jeff Reeves both of Phoenix, AZ, Troy Clark and Shane Clark both of Orlando, FL, great niece, Jennifer Villaneuva of Columbus, GA, brothers-in-law, Paul Clark of Kissimee, FL and Robert and Sara Clark of Orlando, FL. Memorial services will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers make memorial to help defray funeral expenses.
