Mildred Lorraine Bradley

Guest Book

Mildred Bradley, born February 11, 1918, Baptist Faith, resident of Union County Nursing Home for the last 5 years, where she received the most loving and precious care possible. She lived happy and secure under that care to the very end. Hospice was wonderful in easing her and the family through her final days.

Survived by her loving family: son, George Wayne Johnson and wife, Charlotte of Charlotte, NC and daughter, Pricilla Greve and husband David, of Blairsville, GA, two grandsons, Ephrem Brisard and wife, Beth of Clearwater, FL, and Nathan Greve, and wife, Melissa of Naples, FL, great grandchildren, Keegan Brisard, Kody Greve, Kaylin Brown and Kerstin Brown, also close to heart, two special nieces, Faye Ragsdale of Clearwater, FL and Bobbie Miller of Petal, MS.

Born in the mountains of Big Stone Gap, VA, to a farming family, Mildred left at an early age for Florida in search of her career. An independent woman for her generation, she built a successful reweaving business in Tampa, Florida, and continued to reweave for close to 60 some years. She was well k known in the Tampa Bay area as the best in her trade. Her greatest joy was time spent tailoring and sewing beautiful clothing.

Though most of her life was spent in Florida, her love for the mountains never waived, and she was happy to be back in her beloved mountains for the later years of her life. As she loved to say “she was back with her people in her beautiful mountains”.

She will be dearly missed by her loving family.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Fred Lodge officiating. In lieu of flowers make memorial donations to Union County Nursing Home Bird Seed Fund.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
