Mr. Jonathan "Jon" Elsworth Klingler
age 63 of New Jewell Mason Rd. Blairsville passed away on Sunday October
30, 2011 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Klingler was
born on Sept. 29, 1948 in Wayne County, MI., the son of the late Richard
E. Klingler and the late Phyllis Burns Klingler. Jon was a veteran of
the US Army of the Vietnam War. He was a loving husband, father, brother
and grandfather. Jon was of the Baptist faith. Surviving Mr. Klingler are his loving wife, Donna Klingler of Blairsville, one daughter, Jessica Carroll of Blairsville, one brother and sister in law, Sherwood Richard and Faye Klingler of Byron, GA., brother in law, Michael Perry of Canton, GA., one grandson, Kenneth Woody, many other relatives and friends also survive. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. Klingler. | Mr. Larry Dean Green
age 61 of Loving Rd. Morganton passed away on Monday Oct. 31, 2011 at
his home following a brief illness. Mr. Green was born on May 3, 1950 in
Murphy, NC., the son of the late Andrew Green and the late Marie Sneed
Green. He was a lifelong resident of Union County. He had owned and
operated Greens Seamless Guttering for over fourteen years. Larry
enjoyed hunting, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife,
children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, brother and
grandfather. He was a member of Dooley Masonic Lodge. Larry was preceded
in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Crawford and Connie
Walker, four brothers, Andrew Jr., Samuel Jerry, Mickey and Daniel
Green. Mr. Green was a member of Household of Faith Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Green are his loving wife of forty three years, Wanda Moore Green of Morganton, one son, Dewayne of Blairsville, one daughter and son in law, Denise and Scott Long of Morganton, two sister and brothers in law, Jane and David Kidd of Murphy, Dorothy and Jim Sanders of Parris, TN., one brother, Paul Green of Dalton, four grandchildren, Cody, Justin and Nathan Long and Daryl Green, many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday Nov. 2, 2011 at 2:00pm from the Household of Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Mashburn and Rev. Kyle Cody officiating. Mr. Green will lie in state at the church from 11-2:00 pm. Special music will be presented by the Household of Faith Church Choir. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, David, Mickey and Patrick Green, John and Jeff Crain and Fed Lee Walker. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, Don and Jack Crisp, Daryl and Frank Crawford, Hubert Beaver, Dennis Rose, Jack Collins, David Kidd and Vernon Moore. Interment will follow in the Snow Hill Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-9pm. Mr. Harrison Alfred Nix age 93 of Cedar Mtn. Trout Farm Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday Oct. 31, 2011 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Nix was born on July 19, 1918 in Union County, the son of the late William Jasper Nix and the late Leona West Nix. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Harrison was a veteran of the US Navy. He owned and operated Cedar Mtn. Trout Farm and Camping for over thirty one years and over the years loved teaching children how to fish. He enjoyed shooting and was a marksman with a rifle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gretchin Nix in 1998 and by a son, Paul W. Nix in 2007, two sisters, Esta Morgan and Gladys Nix, seven brothers, Kimsey, Andy, Newton, Donald, Walter, Mercer and Clayton Nix. Mr. Nix was of the Baptist faith. Surviving Mr. Nix are one daughter and son in law, Vyna Lou and Lawrence Frederick of Albany, OR., two sons and daughters in law, Charles W. and Gale Nix of San Jose, CA., Lewis N. and Linda Nix of West Port, TN., one sister, Rosa Lee Nix Owenby of Otis, MI., ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great- great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held on Thursday Nov.3, 2011 at 1:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Ray Potts officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Jimmie “Jim” Olin Smith age 77 of Russell Branch Rd. Young Harris passed away on Tuesday Nov. 1, 2011 at his home. Mr. Smith was born on Jan. 21, 1934 in Lakeland, FL., the son of the late Olin Ivan Smith and the late Lilly Pennington Smith. Jim was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Jim never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Jim was a member of the Hayesville Church of the Nazarene. Surviving Jim are his loving wife of fifty five years, Edith Monson Smith of Young Harris, three sons and two daughters in law, Charles A. Smith of Jonesboro, GA., Steven P. and Denise Smith of Jonesboro, Mark E. and Kim Smith of Young Harris, two sisters, Marilyn Smith and Frances Smith both of Lakeland, FL., five grandchildren, Megan and Wesley Addison, David Smith, Stephanie Smith, Daniel and Ashley Smith and Renee Smith, two great grandchildren, Bradyn Smith and Ryan Addison, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends and his best friend, furby also survive. A memorial service will be held on Saturday Nov. 5, 2011 at 4:00pm from the Hayesville Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Terry L. Hensley and Rev. Teresa D. Hensley officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials in memory of Mr. Smith may be made to the Hayesville Church of the Nazarene, 5760 Highway 64, Brasstown, NC 28902.
