Age 51, Bruce passed
away after an intense though short battle with cancer. Bruce was born in
Lansing, Michigan - The son of George and Shirley Babcock. He was
married to Betsy Jarrad (his high school sweetheart) on June 6, 1981.
During their happy marriage of 28 years they had two beautiful
daughters; Laura Michelle (21) and Lindsay Ann (19).
Bruce was passionate about his career
in law enforcement starting as a patrol officer and working his way up
to a Traffic Homicide Investigator in Broward County, Florida. After
working hard throughout his entire life Bruce was able to build their
dream house on the very top of a mountain in Blairsville, Georgia.
Bruce enjoyed traveling and had
many adventures during his 51 years, including visiting most of the 52
states with his family and doing freelance work in the Caymen Islands
(where on one trip he encountered a Russian Ship). One of his goals was
taking a motorcycle trip across the country which he accomplished this
spring. Though he lived in Florida for most of his adult life he
remained a diehard Tigers and Lions fan, never losing his optimism for
his Detroit teams even when the going got tough.
He is survived by his wife and
children, his sister Sherry Piacenti (Dominic) of Lansing, his brother
Robert (Debra) of Ypsilanti, his niece Jennifer Schick (Jack) of
